There is no evidence of the presence of fipronil contaminated eggs and egg products distributed on the Bulgarian market. There are no veterinary medicinal products containing the substance fipronil authorized for laying hens. The spread of these eggs began in Belgium and the Netherlands and then spread to other European countries.

The competent food safety authorities of the Member States are constantly exchanging information via the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed  (RASFF). According to the RASFF, Bulgaria is not among of the countries affected by the fipronil crisis. If there is a risk for consumers, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forests, respectively the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, will take all necessary actions to prevent the spread of food in risk and will inform the public authority.
