A specialized mobile team of the Executive Agency for Fishery and Aquacultures (IARA) and Customs Agency-Rousse seized 1180 kg of illegally transported fish in an operation carried out at Danube Bridge yesterday.
The fish was discovered in a Mercedes-Vito microbus headed from Bulgaria to Romania and owned by Tutrakan-based company Pop-90 Commerce. The driver failed to present transportation papers for the fish during the inspection, and authorities drew up a statement of violation.
Following inspection by the district directorate of the Food Safety Agency, the fish was sent for donation to the Food Bank.
