Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov met with U.S. investors. They are representatives of different companies in the U.S., working in in the field of financial and advisory services, trade and industry in California, Texas and other states. They show a biggest interest in Bulgarian Agriculture and they are impressed by our country's potential, announced the head of delegation Alex Alexiev. Within a week they managed to visit the town of Sevlievo, a wheat-testing ground in the town of Svishtov, a farm in Provadia, factory and feed mill in the town of Sliven, wineries and farms.
U.S. investors asked Minister Naydenov to list on the most attractive subsectors of agriculture, where they could invest. First, he directed their attention to livestock breeding and in particular to the sheep and lamb breeding or meat. There is a compelling demand for fresh lamb meat in Arab counries, as well as other European Union countries, the Minister said. Currently, they import frozen meat from Australia and New Zealand. Minister Naydenov offered U.S. investors to invest in chicken meat production, for which there is an interest shown by theArab countries, Japan and the EU.
Minister Naydenov also presented the possibilities of viticulture and established wineries In the field of wine. Bulgarian vines and wines are in no way inferior to the French, the Minister pointed out. There is a great demand of Bulgarian rose oil on the international markets. There are unused the resources of Bulgaria in the field of fish farming, where there is a special EU program functioning to support investment in the sector, said Minister of Agriculture.
In the field of vegetable production, he presented the potential for production of vegetables and fruits, as well as the production of canned and processed products, for which there is a great interest from Russia.He defined hunting and forestry of Bulgaria as potential sectors for development and investor interest..
