We have allotted over 250 million BNG for the development of the vine and wine sector in the new programme, aiming to support it during the period 2014-2018. This statement was made by agriculture and food minister Prof. Dimitar Grekov at the opening of the new wine cellar in Asenovgrad. “This wine cellar, which is started today, will provide permanent jobs for 25 persons, while another 100 persons from the region will find seasonal jobs here. This is a very important support provided to increase the employment of the people”, the minister emphasized. The wine cellar was created with over 3 600 000 BGN under measure 123 in the Rural Development Programme and with own funds.
Minister Grekov stated emphatically that wine producing had millenary tradition in our country and that wine was an important element of economics. He recalled the priorities in the national programme for the vine and wine development in the next 5 years, i.e. the restructuring of vineyards, promotion of Bulgarian wine in third countries, green harvesting and the investments in the sector.
