Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva discussed with Jean-Marie Aurand, Director General of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV), the possibilities for strengthening bilateral cooperation. The meeting, which was held in Paris, was also attended by Bulgarian Ambassador to France Angel Cholakov, Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vasil Grudev and Executive Director of the Executive Agency on Vine and Wine Krasimir Koev.

Minister Taneva put a stress on the importance and need of strengthening Bulgarian expertise in the vine and wine sector in the frames of Rural Development Programme 2014 – 2020 and especially in the aspects concerning table grapes and autochthonous grape varieties. Both sides could have a partnership in 2 more priority aspects, namely organising a scientific and technical regional forum in Bulgaria and including the Bulgarian academic and professional sector in the OIV training programme (OIV Master of Science in Wine Management).

During the talks, Mr Aurand stressed the participation in the work of the organisation of the Executive Agency on Vine and Wine, represented by its Executive Director Krasimir Koev, and pointed out that the agency’s activity provides a chance of positioning Bulgaria as one of the leading countries in the vine and wine sector in the Black Sea region.

H.E. Angel Cholakov confirmed Bulgaria’s intentions to organise an event to present Bulgarian wines on the occasion of the exhibition of Thracian treasures of Bulgaria, which will be a cultural event  in the Louvre in Paris in the spring of 2015.
