Foreign investors presented to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Desislava Taneva a plan to build a dairy farm with 5000 cows in the region of Haskovo. The investment worth EU 30 mln., as the foreign direct resources amount to EU 10 mln. The project will be implemented on an area of 270 hectares, 13 km away from the town of Haskovo, close to main roads. The meeting, which was held at the Ministry, was attended by MP and Chairman of the Committee on Energy Delyan Dobrev and the Governor of Haskovo Stanislav Detchev.

 

It is envisaged one of the largest dairies in the region to work on the latest technologies to observe the highest quality standards and be environmentally and economically sustainable. Investors assured Minister Taneva that a management system for 300,000 tonnes of animal waste to fertilize the farmland near the dairy will be built. The processing enterprise will maintain a capacity of 400 tons of milk per day.

 

In her turn Desislava Taneva said that in the face of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food the investors can rely on the expert assistance, administration as explicitly stressed that the livestock sector is a priority for the government. In addition Taneva pointed out that our country has a tradition in cattle breeding, and Bulgarian farmers breed animals with proven genetic characteristics. We also have good infrastructure and logistics, competent specialists in nutrition, breeding and animal health.

 

MP Delyan Dobrev and Regional Governor Stanislav Detchev informed that local authorities support the investors and added that such investment is extremely important for the development of the region.
