Bulgaria is represented by 33 Bulgarian wine producers at the International Wine and Spirits Exhibition "Prowine 2025" in Düsseldorf, Federal Republic of Germany. "Bulgaria’s participation in the largest international fair 2025 Prowine is a chance for the country not only to promote Bulgarian wine production, but also to strengthen its presence on the international wine market," said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Stefan Burdzhev during the opening of the Bulgarian stand.
He added that this is evidenced by the large number of Bulgarian participants, seven more than in 2024. Deputy Minister Burdzhev was officially welcomed by Mr. Michael Degen, Director of Trade Fairs and Mr. Peter Schmitz, Director of Prowine.
Within the framework of the fair, from March 16 to 18, 2025, Bulgarian wine producers will present a wide range of high-quality red, white and rosé wines, produced in different regions of the country. Wineries will present Bulgarian wine production with wines from the Black Sea coast, The Thracian Lowland, the Struma Valley, the Danube Plain and the Fore-Balkans. Visitors can taste wine from grape varieties typical of the country, such as Mavrud, Gamza, Dimiat, Misket, Rubin and Melnik.
The national stand has an area of 216 sq. m. and it is divided into a presentation and a special tasting area, which allows visitors to taste selected wines and get acquainted with the history and traditions of Bulgarian winemaking while producers can establish international contacts with which to expand the presence of Bulgarian wines on world markets.
Deputy Minister Burdzhev held meetings with representatives of Bulgarian companies at the national stand, during which he greeted them on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Georgi Tahov and expressed the support of the ministry for the popularization of Bulgarian wine. The meetings were also attended by Bulgarian Ambassador to Germany Grigor Porozhanov and the Bulgarian Honorary Consul in Munster, Werner Jostmeier.
