The Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev met with the Ambassador of Hungary to Bulgaria H.E. Miklos Boros, in the Ministry. The two officials discussed the licensing regime for importing agricultural products from Ukraine to Bulgaria. Minister Vatev said that regarding the licensing regime, there is coordination between the Prime Ministers of Ukraine and Bulgaria and the Ministers of Agriculture. "Ukraine has the obligation to inform us who sends goods from their side and who receives them in Bulgaria. Only after this condition is met the export and import could be realized," explained the minister. He gave an example of a company that violated the licensing regime and information was officially sent to Ukraine. From the Ukranian side, according to a decision of the Ukrainian government, the company should stop transit and lose the right to export for six months.
His Excellency Miklós Boros informed that the processes related to the licensing regime between Bulgaria and Ukraine are being followed with interest in Hungary and they are drawing experience from the achieved good practices.
Opportunities of marketing wine on foreign markets were examined during the meeting. Minister Vatev emphasized that there are modern wine cellars in Bulgaria that produce high-quality wine that can successfully compete on a European and global scale.
