Good cooperation in agriculture between Bulgaria and USA was at the focus during a meeting between Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Desislava Taneva and US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Bulgaria HE. Hero Mustafa
Minister Taneva pointed out that Bulgaria currently exports to the US cheese and yellow cheese and is awaiting the finalization of the certificate-issuing procedure for the export of milk. Bulgaria has fulfilled all the requirements of the procedure for issuing a milk export certificate," commented Bulgarian Minister of Agriculture.
Desislava Taneva got acquainted US Ambassador Hero Mustafa with the debate on the Green Deal in the new Common Agricultural Policy. "Our efforts are directed towards those green practices and new environmentally friendly technologies that can be effective and functional," said Agriculture Minister. She announced that next week the ministry is also organizing the first wide-range discussion with the industry representatives on the forthcoming strategy named "From farm to table - sustainable food production".
As it was made clear, in 2019 trade in agriculture between Bulgaria and the US amounted to USD 135.2 million, which is 23.4% up on 2018. The principal farming products Bulgaria has exported to the American market over the past three years are sunflower, tobacco and cheeses.
