Bulgarian agricultural exports to the Turkish market have grown by 46.4% year-on-year, reaching a trade volume of 905.5 million USD in 2023. This was revealed during a meeting between Bulgaria's Minister of Agriculture and Food, Dr. Georgi Tahov, and Turkey's Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, Ibrahim Yumakl, in Ankara. The meetings focused on strengthening agricultural ties and cooperation between the two nations, with a particular emphasis on expediting the approval processes for exporting large ruminant animals for breeding and poultry meat to Turkey.

The two ministers discussed the deepening of the cooperation between the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency and the Turkish veterinary authorities. The next 14th meeting of the Management Committee for Agriculture between the two countries is planned to take place in Ankara later this year. "I greatly value the partnership with your ministry and I am convinced that it will continue to  further develop and deepen," noted Minister Tahov.
