The caretaker Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry, Prof. Dr. Hristo Bozukov, met with protesters demanding the closure of the mink farm, located in the village of Madzherito, Stara Zagora region, as soon as he took office. They briefed him on their demand only this farm of its kind in the country to be closed.

Petya Altimirska, campaign lead and chairman of Bulgarian animal-protection organization CAAI, said an inspection should be carried out within the farm, as it did not meet animal health and welfare requirements. She added that they had already submitted signals for the farm to all competent authorities. "This farm should not exist," said further Petya Altimirska.

The environmentalists handed over documents related to the farm's activities. Maya Manolova, who was among the protesters and also attended the meeting, insisted on immediate inspection.

Minister Bozukov engaged himself with investigation into the case by the end of the week.
