The Minister of Agriculture and Food, Plamen Abrovsky, officially opened the hunting season for migratory game near Potsarnentsi village, Radomir municipality. The Radomir Hunting and Fishing Association and the Pchelintsi Hunting and Fishing Squad hosted the opening event. The Executive Director of the Executive Forest Agency, Eng. Stoyan Toshev, and representatives of the National Hunting and Fishing Association – “Union of Hunters and Anglers in Bulgaria”, attended the gathering.
"I wish Bulgarian hunters good luck and a successful season. I want to urge them to be extremely responsible, to observe the harvest quotas, and to preserve the natural balance," stated Minister Abrovsky. He also called on hunters to exercise heightened caution during the current fire hazard season. "I appeal for vigilance when lighting fires. The responsibility of every hunter is vital for both public safety and environmental protection," the Minister emphasized.
Plamen Abrovsky also highlighted the upcoming amendments to the Hunting and Game Protection Act, which envisage the introduction of electronic validation and the digital issuance of hunting licenses. "The future lies in digitalization. The next step is to work toward the comprehensive digitalization of the entire system, including hunting permits," he pointed out.
Addressing the media, the Minister commented on the measures taken against African Swine Fever (ASF), the monitoring of pesticide residues in food, agricultural product pricing, the protection of Bulgarian livestock breeders, and the ongoing inspections regarding unauthorized changes in agricultural land designation. According to him, the ASF situation in the Varna region is fully under control, and currently, there is no evidence of the disease spreading beyond the affected farm. Inspections are ongoing, and all necessary biosecurity measures are being strictly enforced.
Regarding extraordinary support for the dairy and pig breeding sectors, the Minister affirmed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food will continue to defend the interests of Bulgarian producers and will advocate for access to funds from the European Union's crisis reserve if necessary.
