It essential that the EU policies for promoting agricultural products on external markets contribute to improving the image and expanding the influence of the Bloc in third countries.. This was announced by Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov during the informal meeting of a meeting of the EU Agriculture Council in the Polish city of Wroclaw, which runs from 11 to 13 September. The topic of discussion was " European Food – Promotion of Quality and Diversity." As an example he gave Bulgaria’s huge interest in promoting the country’s traditional rose oil in third countries. According to Bulgaria, the EU policy for promoting agricultural products is a key factor in the Common Agricultural Policy, Mr. Naydenov said further.
"Bulgaria believes that the EU policy for promotion of agricultural products is a key policy and an essential element of the CAP. It must maintain a balance between local economics dynamics, the expectations of European consumers as well as to motivate consumers from third contries, "said Minister Naydenov to their colleagues.
Minister Naydenov also put a stress on the importance of procedure and management of promotional programs on national level, as this way are taking into account the appropriate priorities of each Member State. The selection and approval of programs at European level should not be removed because it will weaken the dimension of the measures planned in the programs. According to him, the work should be oriented towards optimizing the time.
In terms of financing promotional programs Bulgaria's position is that the levels of co-financing should be maintained.. Bulgaria supports the increase of EU co-financing of 60% in case of promotion of products with great public significance.
