Having meetings across the country, we aim to build a vision for the tobacco sector in Bulgaria after 2012, said Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Tzvetan Dimitrov during a meeting with tobacco producers from North East Region in the town of Dulovo.
Ministry of Agriculture and Food will support any reasonable initiative of tobacco producers or any person who dealt with tobacco production in the last 4-5 years and who wants to redirect his efforts to production of other crops, said further Deputy Minister Dimitrov
Tobacco producers in Bulgaria have been experiencing difficulties for a long time because they were dependent both on Tobacco Fund and the reseller companies, said during the meeting the deputy of GERB Stefan Gospodinov. "The right of every tobacco grower to negotiate alone for the sale of his products was the reason to amend the Law on tobacco and tobacco products," he added.
From the Association of tobacco producers considered as a success their proposal the funds received for 2010 to be declared, but not taxed, accepted by the ministers Simeon Dyankov and Dr. Miroslav Naydenov,. They added that the first tranche of BGN 70 million provided for the sector will be used by them to cover their obligations to the state.
The meeting was attended by the Regional Governor of Silistra Dr. Vladimir Yankov, Deputy Governor Denka Mikhailova, directors of Regional Offices and Directorates with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food on the territory of Silistra.
