The agricultural exchange of merchandise between Bulgaria and Belarus amounted to 2 883 000 US dollars during the past years. This announcement was made by the Minister of Agriculture and Food, Professor Dimitar Grekov, at the Bulgarian Belarusian Business Forum in Parvomay. “We should work to improve these results, and in my opinion, such forums are extremely important for sharing valuable experience and innovative ideas, and for encouraging even more fruitful and mutually beneficial economic and trade contacts”, added the minister. Bulgaria attaches great importance to conducting meetings in this format on a regular basis.

The minister outlined the positive changes in the farming sector since the accession of our country to the EU and the possibilities for joint initiatives with Belarus. He said further that we should advertise even more actively the Bulgarian agricultural produce on international markets.

The forum was attended by the H.E. Vladimir Alexandrovich Voronkovich, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Bulgaria and Arkady Salikov, Chairman of the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange. They expressed the willingness of their country for intensive exchange of merchandise and expanded business contacts with Bulgaria. The two sides discussed issues related to the particular parameters of joint Bulgarian Belarusian business ventures, while it became clear that a Bulgarian Belarusian Commodity Exchange is already operating in Gabrovo.

Today’s Forum was organized by the Town Council of Parvomay, which was introduced by Mayor Angel Papazov. Representatives of the Plovdiv Chamber of Commerce and Industry, mayors of regional municipalities and business operators in the sector of agriculture and food, wine and tobacco industries were also invited to attend.
