Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Rumen Porodzanov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to Bulgaria H.E. Mr. Ion Gâlea. The two officials discussed the application of direct area payments and coupled support schemes that operate in both countries. Minister Porodzanov pointed out that it is important to maintain or increase the rate of coupled support because vulnerable sectors like livestock breeding and fruit and vegetable production are being supported.

Ambassador Ion Gâlea expressed his opinion that Bulgaria and Romania could cooperate in fisheries and aquaculture sector, promotion of agricultural goods in third countries and fight against poor quality products.

Minister Porodzanov and the Romanian Ambassador also talked about the future presidency of the Council of the European Union.
