Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Georgi Kostov met with Marcus Repnik, Permanent Representative of the World Bank for Bulgaria.
The forthcoming strategy for partnership between Bulgaria and the World Bank until 2014 was discussed at the meeting
Deputy Minister Kostov stated that there are two spheres where we need support: recovery of irrigated agriculture, hydromeliorations and all related activities as well as the Agricultural Land Use Code. Ministry of Agriculture needs analysis, recommendations for follow-up acrivities which implementation will involve investments in both spheres.
Marcus Repnik stressed that reforms of the Partnership Strategy between the World Bank and Bulgaria are prepared. He sees the World Bank’s participation in agriculture, forestry and climate change, green growth economics. The World Bank will focus primarily on providing advisors and experts, expertise and experience, co- financing to the funds already received from Bulgaria, the EU and third countries.
Marcus Repnik believes that the proposed by the MAF priority themes of are important and significant. He added further that he sees great opportunities and potential in Bulgarian agriculture
