Today, September 3 2011 in Breznik was held the first exhibition in field of sheep-breeding, funded by approved state aid of European Commission and under the patronage of Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
The exhibition was organized by Breeding Association of aboriginal sheep breed in Western Bulgaria. Its main purpose is the preservation of Sofia (ElinPelin), Breznik, and Zapadnostaroplaninska breed. Another purpose of the association is to develop breeding program for each breed.
State Fund “Agriculture” will finance another two similar regional exhibitions, on which will be presented aboriginal sheep breed in Sofia District.
The exhibition was attended by experts of Ministry of Agriculture and Food – “Animal breeding” Directorate, as well as representatives from Executive Agency for Selection and Reproduction in Animal Breeding.
