In connection with the massive checks of egg packing centers, specialized refrigerated warehouses and sites for retail sale of eggs throughout the country undertaken by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency, today a check was carried out in an egg packing center by inspectors from the Regional Food Safety Directorate in Sofia in the presence of media. During the inspection, no violations were found. The origin, marking, egg grading and egg labeling was what the inspectors checked.
Bulgarian Food Safety Agency has confiscated nearly 4,000 eggs with improper stamps and documents certifying their origin in Plovdiv. The eggs seized were in a supermarket part of a chain of four shops. Later inspectors established that the products came from a warehouse that reportedly does not meet requirements under Bulgarian laws.
