Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and tMinister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Mirosval Naydenov opened in Sliven the National Livestock Exhibition, held for the ninth time. Prime Minister visited the exhibition for the first time.
Next year will be the year of livestock breeding, said Minister Naydenov. For 2012, the subsidy per capitta will be bigger, and livestock breeders will receive BGN 190 million compared to BGN 111 million for this year The total budget for agriculture will be over BGN 1.3 milliard, informs the minister and said that the biggest increase in subsidies for the livestock sector. We started 2009 with zero subsidy and now the farmers will receive BGN 300 leva each for cattle breeding.
The Minister explained that subsidies should go to active farmers. He added that it is necessary to introduce a ceiling on subsidized lands to be notified to the European Commission.. Small producers for whom subsidies are income their living should be supportted. Pig and poultry sectors will receive state aid for the first time next year.
The exhibition features 31 breeding organizations in Bulgaria, where about 2,000 farmers are members. Elite and local breeds of farm animals from all over Bulgaria can be seen.
The opening ceremony was attended by Prof.. Vasil Nikolov, Executive Director of the Executive Agency for Selection and Reproduction, the Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Forestry in Parliament Desislava Taneva.
