The Minister of Agriculture and Food presented his vision for the mandate at a meeting of the relevant parliamentary committee

In his speech, Dr. Tahov emphasized the key role of agriculture for Bulgaria, defining it not simply as a business, but as a traditional livelihood, associated with long-standing traditions and culture. “It’s not just business, but centuries-old living!”, the Minister said before the MPs.

He recalled that "purely geographically, our country is destined to have well-developed agriculture, as it was years ago" and was categorical that "we are all indebted to this industry." The Minister highlighted the importance of institutional cooperation and the expert approach in the work of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, emphasizing expertise. “I was always lead by the expert opinion, by principles of correctness and professionalism. This yields rich results”, Dr. Tahov also said.

Among the main priorities of his team are reducing the administrative burden for agricultural producers, creating better conditions for their activities, and increasing the value of their labor. "We must ensure that the administrative burden supports their activities, not hinders them," he was categorical.

Minister Tahov informed the members of the committee and the participants in the meeting about the current topics and challenges related to the new programming period of the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Union and explained that specific proposals are expected from the European Commission, which will set new guidelines for subsidizing and supporting the sector. In his words, "this means creating sustainable market conditions (through laws and regulations) so that agricultural producers can rely on the market, not on support schemes."

In conclusion, Minister Tahov called for active cooperation between institutions and the sector, stating his readiness to work for sustainable development and support of agricultural producers in the country.
