Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Tsvetan Dimitrov participated in fourth Bulgarian-Polish conference “Competitiveness of agriculture and rural areas in Bulgaria and Poland in terms of globalization and European integration”, which was held in Polish Institute Sofia. This forum is held at a crucial time for Europe – a few days after Euopean Commission announced its legislative proposals to reform of Common Agricultural Policy 2013-2020, during Polish representative, said Deputy Minister Dimitrov. One of the main priorities of the future policy is the increasing of competitiveness of European Agriculture in economic and ecological aspect, he also added.
Deputy Minister Dimitrov informed that the new challenges require reform of Common Agricultural Policy to continue in the direction of more competitiveness and market oriented agriculture. More equitable distribution of resources and alignment of the levels of assistance between State Members will allow them to overcome easier the structural defects and to increase its competitiveness.
The conference was attended by Ambassador of Republic of Poland in our country – Leshek Hensel, Chairman of Agricultural Academy – Associate Professor Dr. George Kostov, Director of Institute of Agricultural Economics and Food in Warsaw – Prof. Andjey Kovalski and Director of Institute of Agricultural Economics – Associate Professor Dr. Rumen Popov.
