Bulgaria has a great interest in mutual cooperation with Vietnam not only in the field of economics, but also in trading and exchange of experience. This statement was made by agriculture and food minister Prof. Dimitar Grekov at a meeting with Le Duc Luu, ambassador of the socialist republic to Bulgaria. Among the possibilities for cooperation with Vietnam, the minister singled out sericulture, production of wine and yogurt, and exchange of students.

He was certain that in supporting the business between the two countries, Bulgaria will facilitate the process with the required documents for licensing the production of Bulgarian yogurt in Vietnam, “because the Asian countries have a great interest in this product and because the Bulgarian bacteria Lactobacillus bulgaricus is extremely useful for people’s health”, emphasized the minister.

Concerning the production of wine he declared that our winemakers experienced difficulties in supporting adequate quantities on the big international markets. Therefore, it would be more appropriate if Vietnam buys out draft wine with specified parameters, which will be bottled in the country under one trademark, pointed out the minister. This would guarantee the permanent presence of high quality Bulgarian wine.

Minister Grekov was certain that the forthcoming signing of memorandum of cooperation between Bulgaria and Vietnam in the area of agriculture, cattle breeding and fishery would set the foundations for something very important, because the document contained clear, precise and realizable targets.
