Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Svetlana Boyanova heard the debate on the report of MEP Albert Dess entitled " CAP towards 2020: Meeting the food, natural resources and territorial challenges of the future”. Deputy Minister Boyanova is visiting European Parliament in Brussels at the invitation of the Bulgarian MEP from the EPP Mrs. Maria Nedelcheva in connection with the vote on second reading of the compromising for European Parliament report of Albert Dess.
Before the debates in plenary, Deputy Minister Boyanova discussed with Mrs. Nedelcheva proposals for amendments in the paragraphs of the report. It has received the approval from the majority of MEPs from different political parties,as well as that of the Commissioner of Agriculture Dacian Chiolosh, who stated that views in the report largely coincide with those proposed last year in the Communication of the Commission and expressed optimism about the forthcoming vote.
All speeches in the plenary were clearly oriented to the EU budget to be kept for strong CAP after 2014. The majority of attendees supported the request for equitable distribution of EU funds, between Member States and farmers within Member States.
In his speech before the European Parliament, late yesterday, Ms. Maria Nedelcheva presented the results of the roundtables on the future of the CAP held so far in Bulgaria and expressed her satisfaction with the activity of Bulgarian farmers in the formulation of some important elements of the Bulgarian position in the debate.
