The Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Republic of Bulgaria, Dr. Georgi Tahov, took part in a meeting of the Committee on Agriculture of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), where the successful completion of the country's review of agricultural policies was announced.

This marks the final stage of another key phase in Bulgaria's accession process to the organization and brings us closer to full membership in the OECD.

During the meeting, the Minister emphasized that Bulgaria is committed to the sustainable development of agriculture, modernization of the sector, and implementation of policies based on data and good international practices. In his statement, he expressed gratitude to the Secretariat of the OECD and to the Member States for their professional support and constructive dialogue throughout the process.

"This stage of negotiations was not only an assessment, but also an opportunity to compare our policies with global standards and take concrete steps towards more efficient and sustainable agriculture. We are convinced that our full participation in the OECD will bring even greater stability, transparency and trust in the sector," the Minister said.

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development brings together 38 developed economies that share common principles of good governance, transparency, sustainable development and economic stability.

The accession of Bulgaria to OECD is a foreign policy and strategic priority, and the successfully completed reviews in the individual committees - including the one on agriculture - are important steps towards finalizing the negotiation process.
