Bulgaria and Saudi Arabia signed a Memorandum according to which in the next 6 months a Business Plan is to be made and concrete steps taken for the establishment of Bulgarian – Saudi Government Joint Venture Company. One of the concrete projects is for building an Animal Feed Plant near Shumen. The MoU was signed by the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry Mr. Rumen Porodzanov and SALIC Managing Director Mr. Khaled Al Aboodi.

The Minister of Agriculture, Food and Forestry met his Saudi counterpart HE Mr. Abdulrahman Al Fadley. The Saudi side emphasized on its interest in red meat, especially lamb. “In Bulgaria I had the chance to taste your lamb and it was wonderful”, added the Saudi Minister.

“In order to export Bulgarian meat it is very important to open a direct air link between the two countries”, stressed Minister Porodzanov and expressed belief it would happen as soon as possible.

Minister Al Fadley stated that rose products and cooperation in Veterinary Medicine are of interest to Saudi Arabia.

“We are aware that Veterinary Medicine and Animal Health is at very high level in Bulgaria and we need to exchange experts”, explained Minister Al Fadley.

Minister Porodzanov reminded that a Saudi Veterinary team had already visited the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency in June 2018. He made a commitment that cooperation shall develop at highest level.

Minister Porodzanov and Minister Al Fadley inaugurated one of the biggest food and agricultural products Exhibitions in Saudi Arabia – Saudi Agro Food Exhibition. Minister Porodzanov was special guest of the event, in which Bulgaria participated for the first time. Bulgaria has a pavilion of 90 square meters with 9 Bulgarian companies exhibiting dairy and meat products, mineral water, packed rice, etheric oils cosmetic products, honey and canned vegetables.
