Chinese companies expressed interest in buying land in Bulgaria. They can invest over BGN100 million in the country This became clear during the meeting the Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov with a Chinese business delegation. Corporation Tianjin State Farms Agribusiness Group Company intends to cultivate to 100,000 dca, said the company’s Vice President  Mr.Li Lian Su. The company plans to work mainly in northwestern Bulgaria. The Chinese investors are already looking to rent or buy 12,000 dca in Vidin Region. They will also look for farmland in the regions of Vratza and Montana, said Minister Naydenov. Separately, they want to buy or rent about 40 000 hectares in the region of Elhovo and Yambol.

Vice President of the company explained that they want to and grow mainly corn, alfalfa and other fodder crops to be exported to China.. We import products from the U.S., said Mr.Lian Su. The company also plans to hire Bulgarian workers and purchase new machinery.

Tianjin State Farms Agribusiness Group Company is the first agricultural corporation in the Chinese province Tianjin. It works in many sectors - food processing, agriculture, livestock breeding. The corporation owns a factory for metal processing, real estate companies and business parks.

Bulgarian farming needs foreign investments and they are welcome, "said Minister Naydenov at the meeting. He explained that foreign investors  will enjoy tax preferences and incentives implemented in agriculture.

Ms. Zhang Chun, the representative of the Chinese wine company Sino French Venture Dynasty Winery -- a Chinese-French company -- said it wanted to buy a winery in the European Union's poorest country and sell the production to China. It was also interested in buying or renting vineyards.
