Bulgaria should have a unified position for management of fishery resources. That was announced by Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov during a meeting with representatives from fishery branch in Varna. The purpose of the meeting was oriented to the development of a unified position of Bulgaria, which to be presented by Minister of Agriculture and Food to the European Commission, during the meeting on October 14, 2011. It is expected that then Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of EU Mrs. Maria Damanaki to meet with representatives from Bulgaria and Romania with whom she will discuss issues related to management of fishery resources and preservation of ecological activities, as well as issues, related to fishery policy.

Minister Naydenov stressed that the lack of communication between Bulgaria and Turkey is the reason for this kind of problems assured that European Commission should participate in this dialog, because it is not right Bulgaria and Romania to observe the fishing quotes but Turkey not to.

Issues related to fishing in the Black Sea and opportunities for growth in coastal areas were also discussed during the meeting. The meeting was attended by Executive Director of Executive Agency for Fisheries and Aquaculture Plamen Zahariev, leading experts from Ministry of Environment and Water, representatives from Association of Fish Products Producers “BG Fish”, fishing branch organization “Chernomorski izgrev”, as well as other representatives of branch organizations from sector “Fishery”.
