Aquaculture farms for intensive fish farming will be built and equipped with funds under the Operational Programme for the fisheries sector in the aquatic environment of the "Batak" Reservoir on the land territory of Batak.
Under this business plan, the beneficiary Plovdiv company named Vesim 2000 Ltd will invest BGN 795,776. The contract concluded is under Measure 2.1. "Investments in aquaculture” of the OP, while the size of approved grant worths BGN 477 466.
The project aims at building of specialized fattening type of net cage incomplete system of installation for the intensive farming of carp and catfish.
The company has chosen an industrial method for the intensive fish farming in cages (floating net cages) having in mind the advantages it offers:
- Compactness of the agriculture holding in higher yields per area unit
- Possibility of easy control of the production process
- High profitability and total return on investment
- Mobility of net cages installation
- No impact on the environment and land along the shore
- Rapid construction of net cages installation and option to install it.
Choosing the Batak Reservoir for building net cage installations is conditioned to several important factors: temperature and hydrochemical regime of water, oxygen regime, size and depth of the water body, as well as currents of the winds. Not less important for the realization of future investment is the proximity and availability of good road network, the connection of the net cages facility with the shore and the location of shore facilities.
The project should be completed in December 2012, as with its implementation will be created 8 new jobs.
