Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov met with the Protos of Mount Athos His Holiness Pavlos I, who is the head of the Athonite monastic community. The Holy Father greeted the Bulgarians for the St. George's Day and wished them good health. He added that the Orthodox faith connects the Bulgarian and Greek people.
 
Minister Naydenov wrote in the official book of protaton "Let this Holy Place stand forever. Greetings from Bulgaria”. He wished good health to the monks and to the peoples of the two countries and gave as a present to His Holiness Pavlos fI an icon of St. Ivan Rilski . Protos in his turn bestowed a book with pictures of Mount Athos.

Thereafter, the Bulgarian delegation visited the Konak of the Zograf Monastery, which acts as the Embassy of Bulgaria in the monastic republic. The delegation also included the leader of Ataka Volen Siderov, MPs of the GERB Miroslav Petkov and MPs from all parliamentary groups.

Minister Naydenov will take part in in the evening vigil at the the Saint George the Zograf Monastery and in the procession of the miraculous icon of St. George, which is part of the solemn service, cattied out  on the occasion of the monastery’s feast.
