Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev and Kosovo's Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development Minister Faton Peci T signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Pristina, aimed to promote cooperation in agriculture and rural development.

The Memorandum between the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of Bulgaria and the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development of Kosovo envisages improved cooperation in the fields of food, animal husbandry, plant breeding, viticulture and wine production, development of rural areas. Sharing experiences in the fisheries and aquaculture sectors, scientific research, agricultural technology, medicinal crops and organic farming is envisages in the document. It is expected the Memorandum to help increase two-way trade in agricultural goods.

“I am confident that this visit would pave the way for long cooperation. Bulgaria has old traditions in agriculture and veterinary medicine and can contribute its ample experience. Regarding trade relations, I think that our job is to make contacts between businesses in Bulgaria and Kosovo", noted Minister Vatev.

For his part, Peci said Bulgaria has highly developed grain production and the Kosovo market is open for cereals and oilseeds. He stressed that the two countries' geographical proximity is a prerequisite for increasing imports. 

The meeting was attended by Bulgaria's Deputy Agriculture Minister Alexander Iotzev, Flutur Mustafa, Chief of Staff at Kosovo's Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development Ministry, and the Bulgarian Ambassador in Pristina, Hristo Gudjev.
