Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Tsvetan Dimitrov met with Cao Zhenghai, a leader of the delegation and supreme adviser to the government of Inner Mongolia Region in the People’s Republic of China.

Opportunities for cooperation between Bulgaria and the autonomous region were discussed during the meeting.  The delegation showed interest in investing in livestock breeding sector and especially in breeding cattle and sheep for milk and dairy products. The officials also discussed the issue of experience and good practices exchange in yogurt production at the meeting. Inner Mongolia is a region with developed dairy processing and yogurt production containing bacteria Lactobacillus bulgaricus”, noted Mr. Cao Zhenghai.

Chinese side expressed desire for renting of uncultivated lands, which would be used for grain fodder production. They also expressed their intention to invest in wine production. Bulgarian wine enjoys a great reputation, but its realization on the Chinese market isn’t still good enough.

Deputy Minister Dimitrov confirmed Bulgarian’s wish for cooperation in field of rice production, biotechnologies and exchange of experience in science research activity, as well as research workers. The program of delegation envisages meetings with the leadership of Bulgarian Agricultural Academy and Thracian University in Stara Zagora, where will be discussed the negotiations of partnership cooperation. Our country is interested in cooperation of sericulture, as an alternative of tobacco production in disadvantaged regions-sector that has been well developed in our country.
