According to data of the National Grain and Forage Service, which are based on information from the Customs Agency and National Revenue Agency, the quantity of wheat available  up to date is 1,583,000 tons. There are no applications for export from the country at the moment and and having in mind the consumption pace for production of flour and feed in the country, the amount of wheat available is enough to meet the needs until the new harvest, according to the NGFS.

The total consumption in the country  for the period 01.07 - 31.12.2010, amounted to 1 032  000 tons, of which 280,000 tons were destined for seed, 461,000 tons for  the production of flour and 291,000 tons for the production of feed. Exports so far amounted to 1,586,430 tons wheat, which is 45 % more compared to the previous year. From these quantities 1,098,733 tons are shipped to the EU, while 487,697 tons are exported for third countries. Until the new harvest campaign according to the estimated grain balance, the necessary quantity of wheat for consumption in the country is 897,000 tons, 550,000 tons of which are needed for production of flour and 347,000 tons for feed, specified by the National Grain and Forage Service.

Ministry of Agriculture and Food reminds that yet in last summer a request to the European Commission on whether the country may prohibit the export of wheat was sent. The response from Brussels was that if the country takes such measures it will be penalized for limiting the free market and that if necessary the country could always import the necessary quantities from the European market.
