Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov announced that by the end of the year a total of 86 000 dairy farms have to meet hygiene requirements of the European Union. Otherwise they will be closed and will not be able to sell milk to the processors. Up to now, only 3000 dairy farms managed to meet the European hygiene requirements. Minister Naydenov added that farmers can restructure their farms under the RDP measures. He advised farmers not to wait until last moment, but to start work on modernizing their farms now.
Minister Naydenov said further that the the Parliamentary Budget and Finance Commission offers small farms and farmers to switch to a license tax in order to get relief from corporation tax and VAT.
