Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naidenov, the Mayor of Kavarna Tsonko Tsonev and MPGERB Vanya Doneva opened a sheep farm in the village of Vidno, Kavarna Region. Investment in the farm will reach EUR1.2 million own funds, the Minister said. The farm's owner is D.I.G LTD. This is a Russian investment made by Nikolay Golub and Nazirzhon Temirov. 300 sheep of the French Ile de France breed were bought with the opening of the farm. Gradually, their number will grow until they reach 2500-3000 sheep in the mid-2012.
Eight new jobs have been created and new ones will be opened, the Minister explained. The farm’s production is intended to be sold on the Bulgarian and Russian market. Besides meat products live animals will be exported, too. The investor plans to close the production cycle and build as well a slaughterhouse and packing plant.
D.I.G LTD. has already bought 150 dca of land in the area, where to grow grain for feed, said company’s manager Radostina Knezova.
The company also intends to invest in vegetable production in the region It will produce peppers and tomatoes. For the purpose, it will build a cannery. The production will be exported to Russia, Romania, Poland and Ukraine.
