Department of Natural Park "Bulgarka" to the Executive Forestry Agency of is back with a medal from the IX-it National Livestock Breeding Exhibition, held in Sliven. Department of Natural Park "Bulgarka" is presented with three female lambs of rare and endangered "Srednostaroplaninska sheep" breed. Animals are part of a certified herd that is kept in the park under OP "Environment"

Committee of 10 experts, representatives of state structures and NGOs, working in the field of livestock breeding, distinguished one lamb with a medal "Champion of the breed." Park Directorate participated in the first National Exhibition and competed with 31 breeding organizations presented with over 300 different breeds of sheep.

Srednoplaninska  sheep are highly prized because of the good qualities they possess. They easily adaptive to harsh climatic conditions,  they are mobile and have a well-developed instinct for self preservation. They are also resistant to cold and some parasitic diseases.

Great interest during the exhibition was shown to the specially made blankets from the wool of rare breed sheep.
