In connection with the check performed by the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency for the presence of pesticides in 18 vegetables batches tested, the results are as follows:

  • 9 batches of vegetables with excessive amounts of pesticides, including:
  • 6 batches of tomatoes, a total of 90 tonnes;
  • 2 batches of cucumbers, 16 tonnes;
  • 1 batches of pepper, a total of 2.5 tonnes;

A total of 108 tonnes of  vegetables are put under ban. The number of importing companies which products have remained under restriction is five. A meeting between representatives of the importing companies and the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency to clarify the measures that will be taken for the production is to be held.

9 consignments of pesticide levels within the norm-range:

  • 2 batches of tomatoes, 32 tonnes;
  • 4 batches of cucumbers, a total of 17 tonnes;
  • 2 batches of pepper, a total of 2 tonnes;
  • 1 batches of eggplant, a total of 1.8 tonnes;

Batches with pesticide levels  within the the norm-range are free of marketing restrictions  and are not health hazardous.

The data and quantities are based on clean production kilograms (excluding the weight of pallets and packaging materials).
