From today, September 19, 2011, the Bulgarian Food Safety Agency begins massive checks of all establishments engaged in manufacturing of carbonated and non-carbonated soft drinks, juices and fruit drinks. Inspections will continue until October 12, 2011 and will be carried out jointly with the Association of Soft Drinks Manufacturers in Bulgaria.

During the inspections attention will be focused on technological documentation and its compliance with the ingredients stated on the labels, the system for managing food safety, including guides to good hygiene practices, presence of documentation and records, relating to the provision and traceability of the used raw materials, manufactured products and their market distribution. Fruit drinks will be checked for the requirements compliance with name and composition. Particular attention will be paid to the proper indication of additives on the labels and the additional information in order end user to be correctly informed.
