"Under the new programming period of RDP, there is a special measure for the preservation and selection of Bulgarian breeds and their approval," said Minister of Agriculture, Prof. Dimitar Grekov at the opening of the second National Stock-breeding Exhibition in the Bulgaria town of Sliven. He added that it is very important the market demand to be taken into account during the selection process.
Minister Grekov pointed out that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food will continue to work on resolving the problem with grasslands because they are intended to be used by people breeding animals. “In order farmers to be able to use these pastures we should have a more direct and closer relation with local authorities. We to a great extent managed to clean up the problem of giving pastures to people who don’t have animals, but there is still much to be done in this direction, "said Minister Grekov .
He made a tour of the exhibition. This year at about 200 animals from 30 farms are presented at the show.
