Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Tsvetan Dimitrov met with Erick Boutry, representative of French company “Lactalis Group”, which is a family-run company with interests in lasting investments in the dairy processing sector in Bulgaria.
During the meeting Deputy Minister Dimitrov briefed Mr. Boutry with the current situation in diary sector in Bulgaria. „The sector is undergoing restructuring at the moment. Our efforts are focused on mountainous and hilly areas, where livestock breeding is a main means of livelihood for the population, therefore much of the subsidies are intended to be allocated in those regions”, said Deputy Minister.
Mr. Boutry expressed the company’s interest for cooperation with Bulgarian farms that want to develop their activity, as well as he showed interest in establishment of processing enterprise. “We insist on quality, therefore we work in cooperation with producers, consult and encourage them, by offering good purchase price”, said Eric Boutry.
During the visit to Bulgaria, representatives of the company “Lactalis Group” will visit “LB Bulgaricum”AD, a state company, offering leavens for production of dairy products to the market. The French company representatives will lead a business meeting with representatives of dairy enterprises in Northern Bulgaria.
