The most impressive result of implementation of European program in our country is that the increased interest in fruits and vegetables has reflected positively on food habits in home environment as well as the overall attitude of the children. Exactly these are the great and long-term goal of “School fruit”, part of the EU policy for improving of public health.
Opinion is to sociologists from Agency “Alpha Research” and it is result of specialized research “Appraisal of implementation and effectiveness of “School fruit” Scheme. The appraisal is for the past year and based on 8300 interviews held with children and parents.
According to data, in the first year “School fruit” has covered 58% of kindergartens and 42% of schools, or total 2000 schools. It is successful because it has not to overcome serious resistance – kids love fruits and vegetables. Another perspective is for their success is a big approval and support, which is found in their parents.
Data show not only increased interest in fruits and vegetables within the scheme, but decline in consumption of sandwiches, chips and snacks. For the whole period were distributed about 800 tones, added experts from State Fund “Agriculture”.
