An open public consultation is being held on the European Commission’s website between January 15 and April 10 regarding the revision of Europe’s policy on organic farming.

The main topics for discussion have to do with simplifying the legislative framework while securing that standards are safeguarded; improving organic products control systems; enhancing the impact of the new labeling rules, especially the mandatory requirement to use the European logo on all EU-made organic products.

The objective of the Commission is to bolster consumers’ confidence while fostering fair competition between organic producers in the 27-country EU.

To join the discussion or obtain additional information citizens, organizations and public bodies could visit the following URL: http://ec.europa.eu/agriculture/consultations/organic/2013_bg.htm. It will be also active on the webpage of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food until April 10, 2013.
