A total 173 kg of carp was seized by the Bulgarian National Agency of Fisheries and Aquaculture (NAFA) from the Zhenski Pazar marketplace over lack of sale and origin papers.
The confiscated fish was donated to a shelter in Novi Han.
NAFA inspectors performed 233 checks yesterday, seizing 961 kg of fish from poachers and unauthorized sale. They drew up 26 statements for illegal commercial fishing, unauthorized sale and transportation of fish.
