Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov proposed the region of Vratsa for Jordanian investments to be made in sheep farm and slaughterhouse. He met this morning with a business delegation that is visiting the country, headed by Dr. Radi Abdulmajeed Ateq Tarawneh, General Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture of Jordan. "We intend to build a sheep farm and slaughterhouse in Bulgaria and to export live lambs and sheep for Jordan," said General Secretary Tarawneh. The interest comes from the "Hijazi"Compony, whose owne Issam Khalil Mahmoud Hijazi is a part of the delegation.
Minister Naydenov proposed the region of Vratsa for investment. For the purpose they will get tax reliefs as well as pastures can be provided.”By investing in a certain region, we develop it and support municipalities”, said Issam Hijazi. According to him, Bulgarian meat has a high reputation in Jordan, but it has disappeared from the market in recent years. He pointed out that years ago most of the food products in Jordan came from Bulgaria. Company "Hijazi"is one of the largest in the world in live animals trading. The company imports products in all Middle East countries, Turkey , etc. It has farms in Australia, Jordan, Turkey. The company owns cargo ships for transportation of 130,000 lambs each.
Apart from investments in livestock breeding, Jordanian businessmen show interest in chicken meat and grain production. “We want regular quantities of chicken meat on the order of 6000 tons”, said General Secretary Radi Tarawneh. Jordanian companies want to develop grain production in Bulgaria. They are interested in bread wheat, feed wheat and maize. They are ready to buy 700,000 tons of feed wheat and 700,000 tons of wheat country.
Jordan delegation asks assistance in the field of agriculture science and specialist training in Bulgaria. They are also interested in investment opportunities in the forestry and hunting in Bulgaria.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture of Jordan, H.E. Prof. Samir Habashne will arrive on an official visit.in our country on July 20, 2011.
