Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov opened the second the International Specialized Exhibition Bata Agro 2011in Stara Zagora. This year the exhibition is attended by more than 130 companies, compared with 80 companies during the last year’s edition, which shows that there is growth in agricultural sector, unlike other industries and exhibitions, announced the minister. “Exhibitions are like a mirror of the economy”, he added.
    
Minister Naydenov stressed that we have already sent to Brussels a proposal for transfer of nearly BGN 280 million from more unattractive measures to Measure 121 of the Rural Development Program. This additional resource will secure more funds for the purchase of new equipment for modernization of agricultural machinery in the country and the sector, he added. The trade balance in agriculture has increased by 24% in 2010. The credit balance has reached US 1 milliard compared to US 380 million in 2009. Exports to the EU which are mainly in agricultural commodities grew by 55%. The Minister explained that old and lost markets abroad are being returned. Employment in the sector also increased.
