Fishing villages in Varna will not be demolished. This was agreed  upon in a meeting between Prime Minister Boyko Borisov, Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov and the Mayor of Varna Kiril Yordanov. Prime Minister and Agriculture Minister and urged  on the Varna’s Mayor to suspend all the actions for the demolition of settlements. Kiril Yordanov agreed to take no actions for the demolition of the buildings.
    
Since the end of last year, fishermen are in sharp conflict with the municipal administration in Varna. The administration wants to remove their huts, which are located on the southern shore of the Varna lake. According to the municipality they are illegal. Fishermen opposed with claims that the land where their houses are built is owned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food and Varna Municipality has no right to land and buildings that are legal because the settlement was planned and  defined as such during the early socialist times under other laws and regulations. Many of the huts are the only houses of fishermen.
    
Prime Minister Borisov  and Minister Naydenov also held a meeting with the Chairman of Fishing Syndicate Emil Milev. They talked about problems with the detained in Romania Bulgarian ship. Both officials stood behind the claims of fishermen. We expect these days the European Commission to issue a statement of opinion, said Minister Naydenov. Prime Minister will separately hold talks with his Romanian counterpart, and if  there is no result he will inform the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso. We insist the Romanian side to comply with European legislation and to allow free fishing in European Community waters, said Minister Naydenov.
