Another 56 farms - mainly in the animal breeding sector - will be supported with funds under Measure 121 "Modernization of agricultural holdings" of the Rural Development Programme (RDP). The projects were approved today at a meeting of the Expert Committee to Ensure Transparency (ETPC). The exact amount is BGN 16,315,848, as it includes funds for 4 plant growing farms.

Most large-scale investment is that of a livestock breeding farm in Haskovo with 290 cows. The farm will get more than BGN 1.5 million in case of good implementation of its business plan. Much of farmers will invest in meeting the requirements for protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources (Directive 91/676 / EEC). To achieve the standards of the Community machines for cleaning, transporting and spreading manure, milk-freezing tanks, milking machines and watering of animals will be bought.

Plant growing projects come from Yambol, Kardzhali, Sliven and Haskovo Districts. In Yambol District will be planted a hazelnut garden, and hazelnuts will be grown on 88 dca under biological methods. Under another project for organic farming cherry trees will be planted in Kardzhali District. Fund "Agriculture” also supported a project for organic farming of almonds in Sliven, as well as investments in plant in Haskovo.

State Fund "Agriculture" has contracted over BGN 585 mln for modernization of farms from the beginning of the RDP so far.
