Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov met with H.E Mr Gerhard Reiweger, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Austria in Bulgaria and Attaché for Agriculture, Forestry and Environment Dr. Christian Brawentz.
It is important for us the total financial package of EU member states, as well as the first and second pillar of support to be maintained. It would be better the correlation between old and new EU member states to be harmonized, said Minister Naydenov. Bulgaria supports the idea of equal starting financial support and review of funds allocation for plant growing and livestock breeding sectors, the Minister added further.
Part of the main objectives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food is to limit the depopulation in rural areas, develop infrastructure and promote agricultural production among young people. For Bulgaria, as for Austria it is important biodiversity to be preserved, which contributes to greater employment in ithe sector, explained Minister Naydenov.
Minister of Agriculture Miroslav Naydenov has discussed with Austrian the positions of both countries on the Common Agricultural Policy of the EU. Minister Naydenov presented the situation of the sector in Bulgaria to Mr. Reiweger and pointed out agriculture marked an 11% growth in the past year. Investments in the sector marked 30% growth.
