Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov expressed reservations about part of the new model for supporting of farmers after 2014 with the reform in Common Agricultural Policy. He participated in the Council of Ministers of the EU held today in Luxembourg at which was discussed the new reform. The position of Minister Naydenov is that Bulgarian farmers may be harmed by the new policy of EU to pay direct payments for farmers who have registered their cultivated areas until 2011. “This can put farmers into disadvantaged position”, said Minister Naydenov to other Ministers. According to him this part of the reform is hidden historical approach.
Under the new model farmers who worked in field of agriculture after 2011 will have to sign a contract with another farmer, who is entitled to subsidies for 2014-2020 to apply together and then share the subsidy. It turns out that in order to receive grants in time from 2014-2020 the farmer has received such grants in 2011.
Minister Naydenov again raised question for earlier subsidy equalization for Bulgaria and Romania with others old Member States, as the two countries insisted this to happen in 2014 instead of 2016.
