Minister of Agriculture and Food Dr. Miroslav Naydenov met in Brussels with the EU Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection Policy, John Dalli and Director DG SANCO Mrs. Maria Paula Corrado. Minister Naydenov has personally informed them about the presence of pesticides in levels higher than acceptable norms according to the European standards found in tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers, imported from Jordan.
European Commission representatives have made a commitment to initiate a change in regulations on imports of vegetables in the EU from third countries and such countries as Jordan to be included in the list of countries for compulsory pesticide testing of imported batches.
